Its a start...

Today was a great day.  I subbed in sped Preschool for the first time and it was so much fun! I was really nervous but it turned out to be no big deal, like always.  I get nervous with new situations and they almost always turn out great! :)

Today I looked up how many calories I can take in each day.  With a moderate workout 3-5 days a week I can eat around 1800 calories and still lose weight.  I won't be counting these calories like a Nazi or anything, but I will be keeping a rough count.  I have decided that I want to write down everything I eat (even if I dont write down the calories) each day to hold myself accountable and also to make sure I am eating a balanced diet.

I walked on my Elliptical for 30 minutes this evening and it felt great.  I started out at a smaller amount of time working out so I won't get sore.  I think 30 minutes was pretty good. :)

So let me ask you all some questions.

How do you fight the temptation to eat unhealthy or to eat when you are bored?

What kind of healthy mid-day snacks and desserts do you enjoy?

Thanks for reading! I hope this day went great for everyone.

  1. Good Job Sherri!! I use http://www.loseit.com/ to keep track of my calorie intake,I think its helpful to see your food and exercise totals in one place :). To avoid eating when I'm bored/tired/stressed I chew gum..it sound dumb, but it works for me. I think the best way to keep a control of you temptations is to allow a "cheat day" once a week where you are allowed to have something special (just one thing though) whether it be fries or a ice cream.

  2. Way to go SherBear!! 30 minutes a day is a recommended amount of workout time, so you can easily start building on that.

What kind of healthy mid-day snacks and desserts do you enjoy?: Sweet Potatoes, I'm in love with sweet potatoes, they are good for you and they are yummy! Also, have something that is already pre-measured, for dessert we have been eating popsicles, that way you have one (tell your brain it's the last one). Also, popcorn, air popped or oil popped if possible and just have that bag. Once you are done with your snack tell yourself there is no more, eating right is honestly just a battle with yourself, so stop being your friend and start being your advocate! :)

  3. Hard boiled eggs are good for some protein. I also like mixed nuts (high in fat, but they help take the hungry edge off). And to beat bored eating, I drink tea. LOTS of tea haha.

  5. I looove myfitnesspal.com! You do not have to count the calories or anything.. they even have an app for phones. You just have to type in what you had and it calculates and tracks everything for you according to your desired intakes of calories, protein, carbs etc! Love it and it has been a great help!
