Lifestyle Change

Throughout my teen years and these last three years in my twenties I have always told myself that I would lose weight. I have started a million diets that have lasted a few weeks and then I'm back to eating horribly. I have been thinking recently that if I do not take control of my body now that I will live unhealthy and unhappy with my body forever. Now, a diet just wont work for the change I'm going for. I'm not trying to lose a few pounds to look good only at the beach. I need to restructure my life by only eating fast food on occasions, decreasing my portion sizes, not eating when I'm bored, and doing a regular workout each day. I need to set a few small goals for myself to get started. My first goal will be to cut out fast food to only once a week, drinking one diet soda a day (because I usually drink like 3 a day) drinking more water(what other drinks are healthy to drink a lot of?) and walking and jogging on my elliptical or outside depending on weather. (What is a good distance to start with, since I rarely work out). I really want to change my life for the better. I believe that by making these changes not only will it help me physically but it will also help me emotionally. Please will everyone reading this help keep me encouraged and hold me accountable for bettering myself. Thank you so much. Also, if anyone would like to join me in this change let me know. :)

  1. Aww Sherri I know you can do it, and I would be more than happy to join you :) I'm still holding on to baby weight and I want to lose some weight before Ana's wedding. As for the elliptical I usually aim for time rather than distance at first. Even just 30 minutes a day will make a difference. It also helps me to set mini-goals...like say 10lbs lost you get a pedicure, 20lbs lost you get a new outfit, etc.Text me anytime your discouraged or just need to talk, it helps a lot to have some one to hold you accountable! Love ya girl and I know you can do it :)

  2. Wuhooo!! I am right there with you Sherri!! I did the Biggest Loser challenge at my gym- and that was a great jumpstart- but you are right, the eating really is the most important part and it is so hard to stay away from all of the deiliciousness we have grown to love and be addicted to (speaking about myself lol)... It is so easy to get something quick when always on the go! AH! I love the idea of little rewards for weight lost... but I also think the most important thing is how you feel. Just eating better will make you feel 10times better and even better when working out. One thing I started drinking is green tea... love it... and its not too bad for you with some lemon :)

Hmm... I suck on the ellitical and can barely mke it like 20 minutes because I get so bored, but if you have a Wii, I highly suggest Zumba for the Wii, Jillian Michaels (kicks your butt) or any other workouts you might want to try- you can do them at home and they are great. I love having these for nights when I do not want to drive the 25 minutes to the gym. You can do it!!! :) I will be traveling this road as well and we can support each other!

  3. Hi Sherri, Check out the Dukan Diet. It is a high protein, low fat way of eating. I think you can find most of it online and don't need to buy the book. Like Atkins, but not high fat and I think easier to maintain as a way of life. You start with five days of protein only, then every other day, add veggies. You do that until you reach your goal. Then you modify some more by adding in more foods. I'm not sure because I'm very far from there. To me, it just makes sense. Check it out. I lost 10 the first week, then we went on vacation. I stayed to the plan - mostly - and did not gain back. Good luck. Staying healthy is the thing to do. I wish I had known about it long ago.
